If you forget everything, it's not you.
You're just studying wrong.

I'll teach you to learn so it sticks.

Join the program that teaches medical, nursing, and health science students how to master complex content, score higher, and remember it long after the test.

The learning struggle:
You know the feeling...

  • You spend hours studying, but still forget most of it by test day.

  • Your grades or test results feel unpredictable, and when you do well, you’re not sure you could repeat it next time.

  • You've tried flashcards, videos, and study guides, but nothing sticks long-term.

  • Maybe you’re going back to school after years away, and you’re worried that learning today feels completely different than it used to...and you’re not sure you can keep up.

  • Or maybe you’re a teacher watching students cram and forget, and even when you tell them to study, they don’t actually know how to do it effectively.

And that's because...

You Were Never Taught How to Study or Learn Effectively

That's a pretty wild statement considering we spend 13+ years in school...learning.But it's true:
Most students and teachers I've met don't know the basic cognitive science of learning and long-term memory formation.
Heck, even I didn't know how effective learning worked for the first ten years of my teaching experience. In fact, throughout our schooling, most of us start to believe that some people are just smart......and others are not.We start believing that some people just remember everything easily, while others are destined to struggle to learn academic subjects for all eternity (or at least however years they're in school).

The truth, however, is that you can learn and remember way more than you do now.

Which student are you?

Student A

"Why did I fail? I spent so much time studying for this test!"

This student works their butt off.You see them studying all the time: before class, after class, at the library, at home. They’ve got binders full of rewritten notes. Flashcards stacked in neat piles. They’re trying everything they know to stay afloat. But none of it seems to stick.Every exam feels like a guessing game. And when the grades come back… it’s heartbreak. Again. It’s not just about the grades. It’s the slow, creeping fear that maybe they’re not cut out for this. That maybe they don’t belong in nursing school… or physical therapy… or that pre-med track they’ve dreamed about for years. So they double down.More hours.Less sleep.Fewer breaks. But the results don’t change because the strategy hasn’t changed. And that’s the real problem. This student isn’t lazy. They’re just stuck using study methods that feel productive… but don’t lead to long-term memory formation. No one’s ever taught them how learning really works. And when they finally hit the wall, it’s not because they’re not smart. It’s because they’ve been trying to brute-force a broken system. That’s why I created The Memory Lab.To show you exactly how to study smarter, remember more, and feel confident walking into your exams. No more wasted effort. No more cramming and forgetting. No more questioning whether you’re cut out for this. You belong in that white coat or nursing scrubs, and I can help you get there.

Student B

"They barely ever study. How do they get such good grades?"

This is the student everyone secretly watches. They always seem to know what’s going on, even if they missed a class. They breeze through tests, rarely stress out, and somehow don’t even seem to study that much. They don’t highlight every word in the textbook. They don’t rewatch lectures at 2x speed. They’re not doing more… they’re just learning better.Everyone assumes they’re naturally smart. And sure, raw ability plays a role. But the real secret?Student B is using powerful encoding strategies, whether they realize it or not. They’re making connections. Thinking deeply. Organizing and integrating new information into what they already know, as they’re learning it.Their brain isn’t just absorbing facts. It’s building a map.How do I know this?Because I was that student.I couldn’t rest until new ideas fit into my mental model of how things worked. And once they fit, they were stuck in there forever. But sometimes even that's not enough. In fact, I got to college and failed my first Calculus 2 quiz, earning only a single point out of ten.It wasn't until I figured out how to study and learn effectively that I was able to turn things around in that class and throughout college.I built this program to help you do the same.Because the truth is that anyone can learn to do what Student B is doing. It’s not magic. It’s memory science. It's everything I've packed into The Memory Lab.

Why I felt like I had failed as a teacher...

As a high school teacher for almost 15 years, I've taught both of these kinds of students. And I deeply regret not teaching them the science of effective learning when I had the chance. It could have helped Stephanie, a kind and enthusiastic student who took my Anatomy & Physiology class, and two semesters of a Medical Physiology elective class I taught. She was an average student, a hard worker (a "Student A"), hoping to go into nursing...A couple of years later she visited the school and told me she’d switched her major to business...because the science classes were just too hard. And it could have helped Alejandra, one of the brightest students I'd ever taught (a true "Student B"). She got a 4 on the AP Chemistry exam, A's in all her classes, and was on her way to becoming a doctor.Years later she came back to give a talk at our school's chapel service. And then she shared that she’d traded her dream of the white coat for something a bit easier. But the fact is, none of us knew what effective learning really looked like.We were all just winging it.That’s why I've spent hundreds of hours over the last few years reading about cognitive science, designing study systems and learning frameworks, and creating this program. It takes the guesswork out of studying and replaces it with what’s been proven to work.I created it for students like Stephanie and Alejandra. And for adult learners like Marie, who is going back to school to become a medical practitioner. And for teachers like Precious, who joined to find better ways to teach A&P and help her students succeed long term:

The Real Problem

Trying to study the way most of us were taught is like trying to fill a bucket full of holes. No matter how much you pour in (hours of rereading, rewriting, highlighting), most of it leaks out before test day.You feel busy, but not better.Productive, but not prepared. You still don't know enough to pass your exams.

And when you look around, it seems like everyone else has figured it out. They nod along in class, ace their quizzes, and move on while you’re still patching leaks. It’s enough to make you wonder: Am I the problem? No, you're not. You’re just playing the wrong game.Science-heavy courses aren’t won by sheer hours. They’re won by using the right strategies with the right system.

Take a Look at the Course Modules

Step 1: Rewire Your Brain 🦄 🧠

Ditch myths. Learn powerful mindsets.

Start by confronting the learning myths that most people believe (even teachers and students!). Replace those with powerful mindsets of learning that pop into your brain every single time you study. Then we'll learn the basic cognitive science of how learning actually works. You'll never approach studying and learning the same ever again.

Lesson List

  • Video Lesson: The 5 Myths of Learning

  • Assignment: The 5 Myths of Learning Reflection

  • Video Lesson: Two Learning Levers: Encoding & Retrieval

  • Assignment: Two Learning Levers Reflection

Step 2: Effortful Encoding 📚 ➡ 🧠

Learn faster. Remember more.

Most people use passive learning strategies that feel effective...until it's time to take a test or use that information. Here, we'll learn how to do effortful encoding (not just trying to memorize, which doesn't work) to make connections to new material, so it sticks in our brains long-term.

Lesson List

  • Lesson 2.1: The Verbs of Encoding

  • Assignment 2.1: Verbs of Encoding Reflection

  • Lesson 2.2: Encoding for Physiological Processes

  • Assignment 2.1: Encoding for Physiological Processes - Practice

  • Lesson 2.2: Encoding for Anatomical Structures

  • Assignment 2.1: Encoding for Anatomical Structures - Practice

Step 3: Retrieval Practice 🧠 ➡ ✍🏼

Lock in what you've learned. Make it stick for good.

Forgetting information after learning it once is completely normal. That's how our brains are supposed to work.So to make ideas stick in our long-term memory, we have to do spaced retrieval. I'll show you the best (and quickest!) ways to do effective retrieval so you never forget what you're learning.

Lesson List

  • Lesson 3.1: Retrieval: Forgetting Curve, Testing Effect, and Mixed Practice

  • Assignment 3.1: Retrieval Habits Reflection

  • Lesson 3.2a: Dump-Fill-Dump Method

  • Lesson 3.2b: Flashcards - How to do them right

  • Lesson 3.2c: Other Effective Retrieval Strategies

  • Assignment 3.2: Retrieval Practice

Step 4: Systematize & Plan ⚙️

Build an efficient, repeatable study system.

Now you know how to do effortful encoding and spaced retrieval. But to be a top learner, you need to systematize this process. You'll build a study system and learn how to run it like a well-oiled machine to maximize your time and learning.

Lesson List

  • Lesson 4.1: Get Consistent at Studying (Overcome Procrastination & Distraction)

  • Assignment 4.1: Procrastination/Distraction Audit

  • Lesson 4.2a: How to Learn While Taking Notes

  • Lesson 4.2b: Six Components of a Study System

  • Assignment 4.2: Building Your Study System

  • Lesson 4.3: How to Plan a Study Session

  • Assignment 4.3: Study Session Reflection

  • Lesson 4.4: How to Create a Study Schedule

Step 5: Reflect & Optimize 🦾

Stay consistent. Keep improving each time you learn.

You're learning faster and deeper than ever before...but you don't want to plateau. You want to keep improving.I'll teach you what data to track and information to trust (hint: not your intuition!), and how to use metacognition to continually adjust and improve.

Lesson List

  • Lesson 5.1: Evaluating Effectiveness - Trust Science, Trust Data, but Don't Trust Your Gut

  • Assignment 5.1: Data Collection

  • Lesson 5.2: Metacognition Cycle - Plan, Monitor, Evaluate, Adjust

  • Assignment 5.2: Metacognition Reflection

And it's not just a course...

It's a community.

FAQs

Is this just for Anatomy & Physiology, or other subjects too?
The principles from The Memory Lab apply to any academic subject. You'll benefit from the techniques I teach for the rest of your life. But in the videos, I use examples from A&P, and most of the students in the program are studying life science.
Do I need to be taking an A&P class to join?
Nope! While many students join to prepare for or succeed in their A&P (or other life science) course, The Memory Lab is also great for self-learners, professionals refreshing their knowledge, and anyone who needs to level up their learning for their career or exams.
Can I join even if my classes have already started?
Yes! The strategies and systems The Memory Lab are designed to help you immediately improve how you study and retain information, whether you’ve already started a class, are about to start a class, or are learning life science on your own.
Will this help me pass my A&P exams?
Absolutely! The strategies I teach in The Memory Lab are designed to help you retain information long-term, which means you’ll be better prepared for exams, without cramming or forgetting everything right after the test.
What if I’ve taken A&P previously and had to fail or drop the class?
Then the A&P Memory Lab is perfect for you. You didn't fail because you're not smart...you failed because no one has taught you how to learn effectively. This program will show you a completely different way to approach learning that will work for you.
Do I need any prior knowledge of A&P to join?
Nope! Whether you’re a complete beginner or reviewing A&P after a break, The Memory Lab will help you improve your ability to learn effectively.
How is this different from just watching YouTube videos?
Great question! My YouTube videos explain A&P concepts, but The Memory Lab goes beyond that by helping you build a personalized study system, so you’ll know how to actually learn and retain the information you study.
I’m a teacher. Would I benefit from this program?

Yes! As part of my day job, I train new teachers and coach veteran teachers, and I've found that most teachers (including me during my first 10 years of teaching!) know surprisingly little about the science of learning.

As a teacher in The Memory Lab, you'll be able to pass these strategies along to your students, helping them be more successful not only in your class, but in the rest of their academic careers.

Is this program self-paced?

Yes! You can go at your own pace. Some speedrun through the 7+ hours of content in a weekend, whereas others spread their learning out over a month or longer.

I recommend taking your time through the course and applying strategies as you learn them. That way you can get feedback from me and from the community as you progress as well.

How much time will The Memory Lab take to complete?
The program has over 7 hours of video content, and the assignments will take another 3 hours or so. I've tried hard to keep the program succinct...no extra fluff. You'll want to start applying these strategies to your own study sessions as soon as possible!
When does the program start?
You'll get access to the full course and community as soon as you join. So you can start today!
